A New Love for Food . . .

I am finding a new love for food again.  By that, I mean I am starting to appreciate the food that is good for me, or at least better for me.  I still have my cravings for the occasional “not good for me food”, but Velocity has really helped me curb those cravings.  I used to have them three maybe four times a day and now it might be a couple times a week.  One of my major weaknesses was the very tasty and satisfying Mt. Dew.  A drink that can change my mood has been set aside because Velocity does something to me and I don’t even want a fountain drink anymore.  I personally think it has something to do with the energy boost because I was drinking a lot of caffeine on a daily basis.  If anyone has ever tried to kick the sauce and go fountain drink free, the head aches and bad moods that follow, well I will tell you I never had the fountain drink hang-over.

Thanks to Velocity and a different mind set, I am now down 23 pounds and feeling really good.  I am running from 20 to 30 minutes a day.  I am still in the “shaking the cobwebs off” stage in my workouts but I really feel better through the day.  For all the diets I have tried, this one seems to be sticking and working really well for me.  I tried a modified Atkins and I lost a lot of weight really quick.  It took a little over a year but it all came back.  I tried a shake diet and I lost almost 30 pounds but it came back really quick.  I tried a double portion diet of the HCG and that lasted all of two days.  I’ve cut out my carbs and did well while doing it but sucked because so much of our food has carbs.  What really sucks for me is I am only 31 and I have been on the roller coaster of food.  The difference with Velocity is I am only losing two to three pounds a week and I seem to be healthier.  I am happier and have really enjoyed my experience two months into this.  I am hoping this will be my last diet and I can make the transition into a life style.

Thanks for reading.

Welcome 2012!

Where did the year go? Here we are already on January 3rd? My how time flies! What are your new years goals? I say goals due the fact that resolutions are something in my mind that are not always accomplished. As a goal it can be looked at daily and if not done exactly right can reviewed at an attempt to get better at. Thus I say goals...it seems more obtainable if you look at it this way. ..  . Don't you agree? Plus did you know that it takes about 25 days to get into the habit of something new?

Mine goals are a bit simple and maybe the same as yours . . .Organization, Be better with time! Exercise and Eat Right, give me and my family home cooked meals! More time to my Kids, Work on Patience! Dates with my husband, to get to know each other better and how our days are! Be better at my Job!

So to start out 2012 right, Clint and are working on having healthy options for snacks. Great way to start right? I started out by going to Costco, purchased a few items like bagged celery, organic carrots, and bagged broccoli, Lettus for salads, cottage cheese, juice boxes, eggs, frozen strawberries and other frozen items to help for homemade dinners, chicken and meatballs ect.  So to make it more convenient for us to grab items to take to work or when we have kids lessons we can grab from the fridge and be out the door in no time flat.

For the cottage cheese, I filled small black Rubbermaid containers with the suggested serving size of 1/2 cup in containers and put next to the veggies. It was cheaper to buy this big container of Cottage Cheese from Costco. Cottage Cheese is a great high protein snack that is often overlooked for its protein content. Just one half cup serving of low-fat 2% cottage cheese has 16 grams protein. Those who closely monitor their carb intake may be pleased to know that a serving of cottage cheese yields only 4-5 grams of carbs. (about.com for facts)

Now we need to work on our fruit intake. This is all that is left in my fridge of our Sunkiss Clementines. My family of five has gone thru about two bags in a week. . . .

Along with our new ways to start being healthy, we are taking Velocity and starting to exercise! Learn more about velocity HERE

So lets hear it, let me know what you do to save time on getting healthy snacks. . . leave a comment on what you do . . . I would love help, suggestions or any comments you may have!
